Overview

Borders, McLaughlin & Associates is proud to have earned the reputation as industry leaders throughout the United States, providing evidence based risk assessments in high conflict family law matters.
The BMAA team is made up of experienced investigators and health care professionals, licensed and specifically trained in their fields. We use a collaborative team approach to conduct inquiries under the supervision of John McLaughlin and Karen Borders. Combined, BMAA has over 50 years of extensive experience in law enforcement and social work evaluations, computer forensics, forensic interviewing and expert testimony in criminal, civil, juvenile and family courts. BMAA is the only privately held company that is authorized to use MOSAIC®, a computer-assisted assessment method that provides guidance in the evaluation of situations that may escalate to violence.
Different from a child custody evaluation, our investigative processes deals with the actual evidence to determine risk or no risk, the probability of future abuse or violence based on statistics, and can be used in conjunction with a Child Custody Evaluation.

When a client secures our services, they can be assured that their case will be handled with the utmost attention and dedication. Most cases begin with a consultation, at which point the team will meet to discuss the tasks to be addressed and the appropriate delegation of these responsibilities. Due to the varied expertise at our firm, a case can be simultaneously investigated from multiple points of interest. This increases the speed and accuracy of complex cases, bringing a faster resolution end to an often lengthy and exhausting court process.

We have assessed and consulted on several high profile criminal, civil, and family law cases in which the Borders, McLaughlin & Associates expertise was the determining factor in the outcome. The experience we offer can change the whole case dynamic when dealing with these highly sensitive matters.

Our firm consults with several law enforcement agencies, medical groups, mental health professionals, and attorney groups throughout Southern California. Our commitment to technology, superior services, accurate results, and the prediction and prevention of violence makes us the only choice when dealing with allegations or incidents involving abuse.
