Domestic Violence & Child Abuse Assessments

The Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Risk Assessments are designed to answer the questions facing attorneys, mental health professionals, court mediators and judicial officers in family law matters involving high risk issues. Often allegations of child abuse, domestic violence and other dangerous behaviors are difficult to factually confirm, but still require immediate protective action by family law professionals.  Presently, injunctive relief such as restraining orders and supervised visitation orders are issued after relying solely on statements made by the parties involved.

Our Risk Assessment objective is to prove or disprove any allegations of harmful and/or unhealthy conduct alleged in family law court. If the allegation is confirmed, then a risk assessment is completed to determine which party presents the risk and to what degree. The assessment includes interviews, research into collateral sources and the use of MOSAIC®.  These tools assist us in determining whether the abuse and/or violence is likely to escalate, de-escalate, or remain the same.

The courts use "the best interest of the child" standard in dealing with child custody issues. Before even asking this question, the validity of allegations needs to be addressed so the "best interest of the child" can be determined based on factually supported data.  If factually supported data is not gathered, then clearly, "the best interest of the child" cannot be served properly.

All assessments are conducted by licensed professionals with significant experience in dealing with these sensitive cases. Our associates are not only qualified to perform the investigation and research, but also qualify as experts for purposes of testifying at trial or in arbitration hearings.
