Borders, McLaughlin & Associates announces a Pilot Program in Family Law Courts in Orange County, California. For program details click on the news link.
Borders, McLaughlin & Associates' Family Threat Assessments primarily focus on the issues of abuse and violence surrounding family law matters. Our family assessments qualify under Evidence Code 730. As one may know, a “Child Custody Evaluation” can take several months to complete and is often not as thorough as it could be. In the meantime, an abusive parent could have access to children or a falsely accused parent may be separated needlessly from their children. Additionally, there are usually restraining orders and other court ordered requirements made using only the immediate evidence available at the time.
Our state-of-the-art programs and assessments are changing how domestic and family abuse matters are handled in family, criminal and civil courts. Our extensive experience and expertise enables the legal community to prepare to prove or disprove allegations of violence or abuse.
These investigations are not meant to replace the potential for a full mental health child custody evaluation, but can be used alone or in conjunction with them. All assessments are conducted by licensed professionals with significant experience in dealing with these sensitive cases. Our associates are not only qualified to perform the investigation and research, but also qualify as experts for purposes of testifying at trial or in arbitration hearings.
