Borders, McLaughlin & Associates announces a Pilot Program in Family Law Courts in Orange County, California. For program details click on the news link.
The Family Threat Assessment seeks to answer the questions based on factual gathering of information by highly trained investigators who seek to prove or disprove specific allegations. Locating and interviewing witnesses, involved parties and other persons of interest allows our investigators to develop reliable and accurate information. All these interviews are conducted in the field, as our investigators seek to locate the truth in these situations.
After the allegations are proved or disproved, the investigator, who has been specifically trained to make the determination of the level of threat present, completes an accurate threat assessment. Utilizing the latest technology available, the investigator uses this information to create a "MOSAIC" report establishing the threat levels present. This investigation answers the question as to whether the abuse or violence is likely to escalate, de-escalate or continue. Once these questions are answered, then the appropriate actions and orders can be made.
Multi-disciplinary teams of investigators, mental health professionals and experts in threat assessment, domestic violence and child abuse are teamed together for a collaborative approach to each case. These teams can fulfill a variety of functions based on their diverse experience and knowledge. They can provide a "checks and balances" mechanism to ensure the interests of all vested parties are addressed, as well as identify any gaps or breakdowns between the individuals involved. This approach can also speed up the investigation process because multiple areas of interest can be covered at one time by the professionals.
